Brendan Humphries Joins Pine Protocol as Head of Business

Kook Capital Founder and Former RBC Executive to Drive Growth and Expansion for Decentralised NFT Loan Platform

SINGAPORE, 20 APRIL, 2023 - Pine Protocol, a two-sided decentralized non-custodial protocol that facilitates NFT asset-backed loan transactions between lenders and borrowers, today announced that Brendan Humphries has joined Pine Protocol as Head of Business, bringing 16 years’ experience in corporate consulting, advisory, strategy and operations across financial services.

Previously, Humphries served at RBC Global Asset Management, most recently as the Director of Global Business Oversight, Risk, and Controls. Prior to that, Brendan held various advisory roles at Deloitte as a chartered accountant. Humphries is concurrently the Founder of Kook Capital, from which he brings Pine Protocol vast expertise in Web3.0 infrastructure development and NFT consulting services.

Additionally, Humphries hosts a Twitter Spaces show that aims to educate and raise awareness about the NFT-fi sector with the aim to:

  • Drive adoption and acceptance of NFT-based financial products;

  • Create a community around NFT-fi to foster engagement and collaboration; and

  • Connect with other industry leaders and potential partners.

“What really piqued my interest towards Pine, is that Pine is addressing real issues. Liquidity for NFTs has always been the largest barrier within the ecosystem. Holders of NFTs in need of instant liquidity have no other choice but to sell their NFTs at a low price in hopes of attracting buyers.,” says Humphries. “Pine Protocols’ solution not only provides instant liquidity options for NFT holders, but also brings benefits to project owners and NFT communities.”

Pine Protocol’s innovative platform, which harnesses the potential capital efficiency of idle NFTs as a means to access instant liquidity, has originated over $4 million of NFT-backed loans since its beta launch in late 2022, and supports loans for leading NFT projects including Azuki, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Doodles, and many more.

We are thrilled to have someone of Brendan’s caliber join Pine Protocol’s impressive team of Web3 innovators and crypto-native blockchain engineers. His insights and extensive experience in TradFi and asset management will prove invaluable as we continue to grow and broaden our presence in the NFT-fi sector as we strive to be the industry’s leading platform for NFT asset-backed loan transactions." - Alex Ho, Founder of Pine Protocol.

Pine Protocol is backed by leading investors, including Amber Group, Sino Global Capital and Spartan Group. Pine Protocol’s smart contracts have been triple-audited by leading security firms QuantStamp, Nassec, and BiPole Labs.
